Privacy Statement

At Bridges Transitions, we are adamant about protecting the privacy of our subscribers. Our policy is clear: We never release or sell any of the information you give us without your express permission.
We'll use the information you provide to protect your security and to channel relevant information to you. Bridges will also make various promotions and offers of interest available to Bridges subscribers. You will be able to explicitly accept the offer and ask Bridges to provide your pertinent contact information to the relevant partner.
We have created this privacy statement to demonstrate our commitment to protecting the privacy of our subscribers and the privacy of other visitors to our Web sites. This statement explains why we ask for the information that we do, and how we will use it.
A Note to Children and Parents
Bridges Transitions intends the Career Advantage 101 Web site to be used by students and adults.
Children: before sending any information about yourself over the Internet -- to us or to anyone else -- be sure to ask your parents for permission.
Parents: Bridges recommends that parents take an active role in their children's use of the Internet. We encourage you to talk to your children about safe and responsible use of their personal information while using the Internet.
Information Collection and Use
Bridges Transitions Inc. collects information from users at several different points on our Web sites; we are the sole owners of the information collected on our sites. We will not sell, share, or provide this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement.
Registration
In order to use some features of our Web sites, a user must first complete a registration form. During registration, a user is required to provide their contact information (such as name and e-mail address). This information is gathered as anonymously as possible and is used to contact the user about the services on our site in which they have expressed interest. Providing demographic information (such as income level and gender) is optional but encouraged, as it helps us provide a more personalized experience for the user on our site. We will use this information only in statistical or aggregated formats, to help determine our site's readership interests. This generic information may be shared with others to illustrate general readership demographics.
Order
We request information from the user on our order form. Here a user must provide contact information (like name and shipping address) and financial information (like credit card number, expiration date). This information is used for billing purposes and to fill customers' orders. If we have trouble processing an order, this contact information is used to help us get in touch with the user.
Cookies
A cookie is a small file stored on the user's hard drive containing information about the user. Serving cookies is a very common Internet practice. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on our site. We encourage users to keep their cookies turned on: a drawback to turning off cookies is that the user will be limited in some areas of our site. For example, the user will not be able to participate in any sweepstakes or contests that take place on the site. Cookies can also enable us to track and target the interests of our users, helping us to enhance their experience on our sites. Some of our business partners also use cookies on our site (for example, advertisers). We have neither access to nor control over these cookies.
Log Files
We use IP addresses to analyse trends, administer the site, track users' movements, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.
Sharing
We will share aggregated demographic information with our partners and advertisers. This is not inclusive of or linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person.
We use an outside credit card processing company to bill users for goods and services. Our contract with such companies stipulates that they will not retain, share, store or use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes.
From time to time, we may partner with another party to provide specific services. When the user signs up for these services, we share necessary contact information for the third party to provide these services. These parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing these services.
Links
This Web site contains links to other sites that have been screened and assessed for appropriate content prior to publication on our site. Please be aware that we at Bridges Transitions Inc. are not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites and cannot guarantee that quality content standards will be maintained at other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every Web site that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by this Web site.
Newsletter
If a user wishes to subscribe to one of our newsletters, we ask for contact information such as name and e-mail address. Your e-mail address will be used to deliver the newsletter(s) of your choice and information from Bridges Transitions Inc. It will NOT be distributed to others for commercial or any other purposes.
Surveys and Contests
From time to time, our site requests information from users via surveys or contests. Participation in these surveys or contests is completely voluntary. The user, therefore, has a choice as to whether or not to disclose this information. Information requested may include contact information (such as name and shipping address), and demographic information (such as postal code, age level). Contact information will be used to notify the winners and award prizes. Survey information will be used for the purposes of monitoring or improving the use and user satisfaction of this site.
Tell a Friend
If a user elects to use our referral service for informing a friend about our site, we ask them for the friend's name and e-mail address. Bridges Transitions Inc. will automatically send the friend a one-time e-mail inviting them to visit the site. Bridges stores this information for the sole purpose of sending this one-time e-mail. The friend may contact Bridges Transitions at advantage@bridges.com to request the removal of this information from our database.
Security
This Web site takes every precaution to protect our users' information. When users submit sensitive information via the Web site, their information is protected both online and off-line. When our registration/order form asks users to enter sensitive information (such as a credit card number), that information is encrypted and is protected with highly regarded SSL encryption software. While on a secure page, such as our order form, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to unlocked, or open, when you are just "surfing."
Supplementation of Information
Special Offers
We send all new members a welcoming e-mail to verify password and username. Established members will occasionally receive information on products, services or special deals, and a newsletter. Out of respect for the privacy of our users, we present the option to not receive these types of communications. Please see the choice and opt-out information below.
Site and Service Updates
We also send the user site and service announcement updates. Members are not able to unsubscribe from service announcements, which contain important information about the service. We communicate with the user to provide requested services and in regards to issues relating to their account via e-mail or phone.
Correction/Updating Personal Information
If a user's personally identifiable information (such as your postal code) changes, or if a user no longer desires our service, we will endeavour to provide a way to correct, update or remove that user's personal data as provided to us. This can be done by e-mailing us at advantage@bridges.com .
Choice/Opt-out
Users who no longer wish to receive a newsletter or promotional materials from Bridges Transitions Inc. may opt out of receiving communications by following the unsubscribe directions located at the bottom of our newsletters. Or they may e-mail us at advantage@bridges.com .
Users of our site are always notified if and when their information is being collected by any outside parties. We do this so our users can make an informed choice as to whether they should proceed with services that require an outside party, or not.
